‘Together Again for the First Time…’ Young Frankenstein, Garrick Theatre, London. 17.05.2018

young frankensteinI was so happy to return to Transylvania to catch Young Frankenstein before it closes in September! For this viewing I was lucky to have got tickets based in Row L seats 9 at the Garrick Theatre. The view was perfect with no obstructions at all. However, I can imagine if you got a tall person in front of you, you may have to lean to the side.

Now I have already had the chance to see this show during the Previews last November, so for my views on the show and some of the cast check out my blog here.

For this production there was a small cast change within the roles of Igor and Frau Blucher. Cory English took over the role of Igor following Ross Noble, his take on the role was very different to his and ensured that he made the role his own. Great with his comic timing, he displayed great duo chemistry with Hadley Fraser’s Fredrick – especially during ‘Together Again’ where they had a slight giggle during the Walk this way! it was great to see! The only thing is he really portrayed the role very british with his accent, which I wasn’t really sure if it truly worked or not. Nonetheless he was very enjoyable to watch.

Then Kelly Ewins-Prouse was the understudy for Frau Blucher, covering for Lesley Joseph. It was interesting to see her perform a role that is best suited for that of an older age – that being said though she really showed a great presence on stage and I thoroughly enjoyed ‘He Vas my Boyfriend’ which had the audience in fits of laughter.

It was great to see this show in action once again, it is sad to see it leave too soon from the West End. However, I am delighted it will be touring the UK in 2019 – I can only hope it comes to one of my locals and I will be very interested to see who is cast in this production! Keep you eyes open to see
